Abstract
Current infrastructure monitoring methods struggle with data consistency and delayed maintenance. InfraChain, a sensor-based bridge management system using blockchain technology addresses these issues. Sensors collect real-time data (strain, traffic noise) to identify road damage early. Blockchain ensures data immutability, transparency, and traceability. This combination aims to improve maintenance efficiency and transparency. The paper details InfraChain’s design and functionalities, along with its evaluation in a simulated environment. Findings suggest InfraChain’s potential to revolutionize bridge maintenance, promoting safer, more reliable, and cost-effective practices. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
